A one-of-a-kind tiered dress created from a collection of authentic vintage Japanese tenugui, estimated to date from around the 1950s–1970s.
Each piece of cloth once belonged to everyday life in Showa-era Japan. Old shop advertisements, bold Japanese lettering, local business names, telephone numbers, illustrations, and graphic motifs are brought together like fragments of a visual archive.
Rather than hiding their original identities, the tenugui are carefully arranged so that their typography, colors, and traces of the past become the design itself. The contrasting indigo blue, faded white, brown, and muted tones give the dress a distinctive patchwork character.
The relaxed silhouette and softly gathered tiers create volume and movement, transforming humble everyday textiles into a contemporary statement piece.
No two can ever be exactly alike.
Once Vintage. Now the Spotlight.
Please note: This garment is made from authentic vintage textiles. Variations in color, fading, stains, rubbing, small marks, or minor imperfections may be present due to age and previous use. We consider these traces part of the history and unique character of each piece.
